LCR-Reader Ring Coil Tester

The LCR-Reader Ring Coil Tester is used with LCR-Reader-MPA for finding short turns in coils. These short turns are near impossible to detect using an LCR-meter as the impedance value may not change. The LCR-Reader Ring Coil tester connects to LCR-Reader-MPA through the micro-USB port; the hook connectors connect to the investigated coil. The MPA device must be set to "Frequency/Winding Turns" in the menu. The MPA screen will show the excitation of the connected coil. A short turn will display a higher dissipation factor and therefore fewer oscillations following the impulse on the coil.
